SRC election

31st of July, the day which MMU-ians decided who will be representing them in SRC (Students Representative Council).

It was just like general election, but the different thing here is, each candidate is representing himself, no parties involved.

Candidates were allowed to have campaigns before the election day. Out of so many methods, the most common method that candidates employed was using posters.

I noticed something interesting here in the campaigns.

1. The size of the posters

Normally, candidates used A4 size paper.

To attract more attention, this one used 16 A4 size papers to make one big poster.

This one, even better. She used around 100 A4 size poster to make this. (There were 2 candidates' posters there, each of them used around 100 posters)

This one used a cloth banner.

This is the richest one. Other than A4 size posters, he printed a banner for his campaign.

2. The mottoes / slogans

Each candidates had his or her own unique motto or slogan to attract voters. I noticed some slogans, they were all well-written, but the devil inside me has some questions to those mottoes or slogans.
  • "Action speaks louder than words". This one nice... but it sounds like a proverb to me..
  • "First to serve, last to flee". Wow, you are great!! But what are you fleeing from?
  • "Towards integration, against differentiation". You are a math freak, aren't you?
  • "Students' strength through unity". Yea~so? Is there anything to do with you?
  • "No promises, only actions". WTF??!! You can't even make promises why should I believe you?
3. The manifestos

Just like slogans, each candidates had different manifesto. Manifestos are something which the candidates promise to do once he got elected. I selected some to share out.

This one said : "To make sure there's no more ADDITIONAL FEES" in his manifesto.

Wah~ This is extremely good especially this moment where prices of everything increase. But, as a voter, will you believe him? I mean will you believe he is capable of fulfilling this commitment?

I will believe....if:
  • The candidate is someone from the senior management of TM.
  • The candidate is someone from the senior management of MMU.
  • I am a retard.
Once you enrolled into this place, you should know that you are the meat on its chopping board know that there will be additional fees from time to time. How are you going to make sure that no more additional fees in the future?

Another candidate said :" Demolish differentiation between races and cultures"

Huh~?! What the....

Are you going to demolish other people's culture?? Are you going to unify all the cultures here?? Instead of that, I think it is better that to educate us to understand more about different cultures here, right?

This one, obviously for FET students. He had written manifestos and picture manifestos.

I understand the written one. But this one on the pic above... I don't really understand.

Are you saying that you are going to repaint FET once you got elected?

Are you saying that before you got elected, students had angry faces in class, but once you got elected, everyone will have smiley faces in class????

FET students, is it true?

4. Who to vote???

Yea, go back to the most important question, who to vote. After reading so many posters with attractive manifestos and handsome/pretty photos, it's time to choose.

Who should my vote cast to? Who will best represent me in SRC? Who will protect students' best interest?

I am not the only one who asked this questions, so do the candidates.Instead of asking people to support them, most of the candidates were asking voters to assist them in casting their votes ......

Wat da heck~~ (=.=")
