Singapore trip 170308 (day 1)

During last mid-term break, Kelvin, KJ, Sam, Sandy and me went to Singapore. Sam and Sandy had never been to Singapore before, so they wanted KJ and me to "bring" them to Singapore. It ought to be a fun trip but it wasn't fun enough.Anyway, I personally had some different experiences from the trip.

Before the trip, my mom and aunt told me about the story of run-away Mas Selamat and the long traffic jam in Singapore checkpoint there. So, I have mentally prepared to WALK from Singapore to JB.

The night before the trip, KJ, Sam and Sandy came to my house and stayed there. Not bad, the first time I had my friends stayed in my house.

This trip to Singapore was an economic trip and a two-day trip. As all of us do not wish to spend much in day 1, we had omitted all the destinations that need tickets. So, in our itinerary, we have Orchard Road, Bugis (for the GuanYin Temple), Chinatown, and finally Clarke Quay.

At the Woodland checkpoint, I saw a lot of Mas Selamat's posters. And you can see his posters anywhere in Singapore. I think now, he is much more famous then Fann Wong and Zoe Tay in Singapore with the free advertisements from Singapore government.

After the checkpoint, we took MRT to Orchard station. From the MRT station, we directly went to Marriott Hotel at Orchard, not because of check-in, but we wanted to use their toilet. :p

Four "suspicious- looking" persons with two "suspicious-looking" bags - should I call 999?

After some aimless walking at Orchard Road, we decided to go to GuanYin Temple at Bugis. We had our lunch there before we entered the temple. The temple is big, and a lot of prayers inside. I wish I could take some picture inside the temple, but I couldn't do so. There is a signboard indicates that no camera/camcorder allowed and the temple is guarded with armed auxiliary police officers. Too bad~~

OCBC's old logo??

Next station, Chinatown. My aunt said I might have a little bit disappointment when I reach Chinatown. But, it's quite OK for me as I have never seen the old Chinatown before. To me, Chinatown in Singapore is like Jonker Street in Melaka, a mixture of old and new. Those buildings there are old but the colorful painting on the buildings make them looks young...What am I saying?? Anyway, it's quite special lah~

After a little break in McD in Chinatown, it was almost evening and we decided to go to the last destination of the day - Clarke Quay.

The night scenery in Clarke Quay is very beautiful. Sitting by the river is very relaxing. We walked along the river and saw with different themes. One restaurant that attracted my attention most is the restaurant named "绯闻" (gossip - Am I translated correctly?).

It was around 9 o'clock, we headed back to JB. After the Mas Selamat incident, we all prepared to walk across the causeway, but fortunately, we did not need to walk across the causeway as there was no traffic jam on that night! Haha! Lucky us~ no jam at causeway~~
